Eligibility Criteria of CA Foundation 2018 (for November 2018 session)

A.Course Registration:
The candidate must have registered for CA Foundation course with ICAI on or before June 30, 2018; Or If already registered under CPT course (old scheme), the candidate must have converted to CA Foundation course on or before August 1, 2018, in order to fulfill registration CA Foundation eligibility criteria for November 2018 session.

B.Class 12 Qualification:
The candidate must have passed Class 12 qualifying examination from a recognised board of education.
Exemptions from CA Foundation 2018 Exam - Direct Entry Route

Candidates who fall in following categories will not need to fulfill CA Foundation eligibility criteria 2018 or appear for CA Foundation examination, they can directly enrol in next level of CA course, i.e. intermediate course. These exemptions are similar to CA CPT exemptions.
  • Candidates who have completed graduation or post-graduation in Commerce and have secured at least 55% in aggregate in the exam conducted by a recognized university (including open university) are exempted from appearing in CA Foundation exam. They can directly enrol in the next level of CA course, i.e. Intermediate level.
  • Candidates who have completed bachelor or masters degree in a stream other than commerce from a recognized university (including from open university) and secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate are also exempted from appearing in CA Foundation 2018.
  • Candidates who have passed intermediate level of examinations of Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India, are also not required to appear for CA Foundation exam and can directly enrol in intermediate course.
CA Foundation Passing Criteria

CA Foundation will be a total of 400 Marks exam with each paper being held for 100 Marks. The subjective papers, i.e. Paper 1 & 2, will not have any negative marking. The objective papers, i.e. Paper 3 & 4, will have a negative marking of one-fourth, such that for every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from one's score.

As per the passing criteria of CA Foundation 2018, candidates appearing in CA Foundation 2018 will be required to obtain minimum qualifying marks, so as to qualify the exam and proceed to the next level of CA course. As per the passing criteria of CA Foundation 2018, candidates will need to obtain at least 40 marks in each of the papers, i.e. 40% marks in each paper, and will be required to obtain at least 50% (200 marks) in the aggregate of all four papers.
